Mylo
Product Lead
Brief
Redesign the end-to-end experience of this fertility tracking connected device app.
Process
Working alongside the brand agency and CEO I re-architected and redesigned the app experience.
Results
A more intuitive device experienced launched with no more 1 star reviews.
Mylo provided every woman with an accurate, personalised, real-time view of her primary ovulation prediction hormone, regardless of any tricky cycle issues.
I redesigned the connected device app to align with a new brand and to address numerous usability issues reflected in the 1 star app store reviews.
Everything starts with a sketch. The legacy app Bluetooth connection flow was clunky and haphazard. I mimicked the Bluetooth connection patterns seen with speakers and fitness trackers to nurture familiarity.
We removed requirements for unnecessary personal data to build trust. We ensured that the puposes of the data we did ask for was explicitly communicated to the user.
We removed line smoothing from the charts to ensure precise display of hormone levels. With such fine differences between readings, the data display choices were paramount to ensuring successful data interpretation.
Exploring different ways we could present the fertility hormone levels. Data clarity was chosen over presentation novelty. The women using this app were experiencing a stressful time of life. In interaction design obvious usually wins.
This device and app are used at stressful and worrying times. Careful consideration was made to ensure that the data display was intuitive and familiar. Unlike the original app, we didn’t want to add to the emotional toll of trying to conceive.
From pencil sketch to wireframe to prototype to polished UI. Every step was modelled, tested and refined.
We achieved a far more distinctive, intuitive and customer-centric app design. It stood out amongst its peers with a bold design direction and opinionated brand tone of voice created by the partner agency.
Unfortunately, the parent company have since withdrawn the app and connected hormone tracking device from the market.
